Assessment is the key component of learning as it determines whether the goals of education are being met. It provides timely and informative feedback to students and motivates them towards self-improvement.
At Salwan, the endeavour is to provide an inclusive and an enabling environment to all children with varied needs. We firmly believe that each and every child has the ability to learn and maximize his/her potential through adequate learning opportunities, effective teaching and appropriate resources.
The school has adopted WHO’s guidelines of ten core life skills, which are Self-awareness, Decision-making, Effective communication, Problem-solving, Empathy, Critical thinking, Creative thinking, Interpersonal relationship, Coping with stress and emotion.
“Preparedness is the calm before, during and after the storm.”
Mock fire drill and evacuation drills are conducted in the school to create awareness and preparedness during calamities. The students are trained to be alert, quick and responsible, follow instructions, maintain calm and avoid panic to avert stampede and casualties. These drills help in building courage and confidence amongst students and develop leadership skills. To help children understand about disaster management and evacuation process, child friendly videos were shown 2-3 days in advance. After making them aware, a mock fire and evacuation drill was conducted at Salwan Montessori School on Thursday, 7th July,2022 at 10:30 am. All the staff members were positioned at pre decided vantage points to guide and assist the students as soon as the fire alarm went off. The students quickly moved out and the school building was evacuated in 4 minutes. Students had assembled at the designated area and Head count was done by the class teachers to ensure the presence of everyone. Special training has been imparted to the staff members to handle the fire extinguisher. The drills focused on activation of the full response system, incorporated decision making and life safety aspects.
